Impact of ALS Herbicide-Resistant Perennial Ryegrass (Lolium perenne) Population on Growth Rate and Competitive Ability against Wheat

چکیده
Three perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) populations (R1, R2, and R3) with suspected resistance (R) to acetolactate synthase (ALS) or acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase) herbicides were collected from wheat (Triticum aestivum) fields in northwestern Greece study the underlying mechanisms of their impact on growth rate competitive ability against wheat. Preemergence postemergence plant dose–response assays showed that R1 population was cross-resistant ALS inhibitors chlorsulfuron, mesosulfuron + iodosulfuron, pyroxsulam, but susceptible (S) imazamox. However, all ACCase clodinafop-propargyl, clethodim, diclofop-methyl, pinoxaden. The analysis gene sequence revealed a substitution Pro197 by His Leu enzyme L. perenne, which is reported for first time this weed indicates potential mechanism target site-mediated resistance. grown absence presence competition displayed similar aboveground biomass tiller number trends, therefore estimated rates. In addition, similarly reduced both S populations, supporting evidence general, these findings indicate there no clear fitness advantage over population.

ACREMONIUM-ENDOPHYTES OF PERENNIAL RYEGRASS (Lolium perenne) IN FRANCE
13-17 ABSTRACT Infection with endophytic fungi (Acremonium spp.) was detected in seeds of wild populations of perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) collected in France by private breeding companies and INRA. In total, 262 populations were examined and 70% contained Acremonium. It is worth noticing that most populations are endophyte infected but generally endophyte infection rates per population ...
متن کاملAploneura lentisci (Homoptera: Aphididae) and Its Interactions with Fungal Endophytes in Perennial Ryegrass (Lolium perenne)
Aploneura lentisci Pass. is endemic to the Mediterranean region where it is holocyclic, forming galls on its primary host, Pistacia lentiscus and alternating over a 2-year period between Pistacia and secondary hosts, principally species of Gramineae. This aphid is widely distributed in Australia and New Zealand on the roots of the common forage grasses, ryegrass (Lolium spp.) and tall fescue (S...
متن کاملHaploid and Doubled Haploid Techniques in Perennial Ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) to Advance Research and Breeding
The importance of haploid and doubled haploid (DH) techniques for basic and applied research, as well as to improve the speed of genetic gain when applied in breeding programs, cannot be overstated. They have become routine tools in several major crop species, such as maize (Zea mays L.), wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), and barley (Hordeum vulgare L.). DH techniques in perennial ryegrass (Lolium ...
متن کاملComplete Chloroplast Genome Sequence of a Major Allogamous Forage Species, Perennial Ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.)
Lolium perenne L. (perennial ryegrass) is globally one of the most important forage and grassland crops. We sequenced the chloroplast (cp) genome of Lolium perenne cultivar Cashel. The L. perenne cp genome is 135 282 bp with a typical quadripartite structure. It contains genes for 76 unique proteins, 30 tRNAs and four rRNAs. As in other grasses, the genes accD, ycf1 and ycf2 are absent. The gen...
